"EMS" is an overarching term that offers many different possible uses. Just as the term "engine" is used both in a moon rocket and in a children's toy.
The history of EMS is thousands of years old and scientifically proven. Ultimately, it is about language / communication between the brain and muscles. The control of the intensities ("Only the dose makes the poison"), also sensors, smart technology, evaluation of the data and the practicability of the materials for a "pleasant" use are the really new developments for the future. In recent years, only one business model has really been able to establish itself, which many operators have simply adopted - different colors. Isometric HIT training as a 1-2 concept in micro studios. Only in rehab have advanced options of this great technology been installed. The technology from the west, wet underwear, fragile cables allowed the maximum combination with a simple cardio machine like the elliptical machine and this contradicted the usual business model of 20 minutes with almost brutal, maximum intensity that does not allow free movement, i.e. mobility and no proper coordination training. Minimal space requirements, simple application, noticeable success with minimal personnel and training costs are also advantages. The business model developed by Bodystreet was brilliant for its time and will probably always have its target group. However, new technology and better materials now allow much more. Offer freedom and holistic options. The "home fitness" area can now also be addressed professionally.
In 2010 the cardiac surgeon presented Prof. Dr. Dirk Fritzsche the first serious dry electrode and the first EMS suit for free mobility in training. The "EasyMotionSkin", which can already be easily controlled via an app on the smartphone and thus positioned as "World's Smallest Gym". Since 2015 there have been fully mature series products that have established themselves internationally, including in competitive sports. Other companies such as the medical device manufacturer Schwa-Medico developed the perfect static back training while lying down as an established medical device. Some established classic manufacturers such as Miha or XBody rely on heavy but stable and individually adaptable electrode technology. Others on advanced medical sensors and still others on EMS simply as boosters in the low-budget segment. Unfortunately, often without training, fit, durability and safety. And equally unsustainable in support. The copy cats appear and disappear here as well as in any other emerging market. Whole body EMS is still a little more difficult in competitive sports due to the lack of “smart technology”, ie measurability and meterability, and yet world-class athletes have had sensational success with EMS. From boxing world champion Manuel Charr in a comeback after a double hip operation to the legendary fastest man in the world, golfers, riders, soccer players and tennis players, to the national athletes of the People's Republic of China. In the area of senior care as well as in rehab, Ems stimulation enables impressive strengthening, stabilization without real weights and also passive lying down, the muscle breakdown can be successfully counteracted. Quality of life can easily be improved.
